Winter Reminders

Grampa's Trash
Nov 22, 2011 01:17 PM

Now that our unusually warm and mild fall has passed, winter weather is finally creeping in.  As much as we love our seasons here in southeastern Idaho, winter certainly does present its challenges!  Sometimes things beyond our control, such as road closures due to extremely high winds and snow drifts, can occasionally affect your regular trash pickup.  We at Grampa's Trash will do our very best to safely haul your trash and keep your pickup service consistent and worry-free throughout the winter months.

Here are a few reminders that will help us keep up our end of the bargain:

  • As always, trash pickup will continue, without interruption, throughout ALL the holidays.  Your trash day will remain the same throughout the Holiday Season!  This includes Thanksgiving Day, which this year falls on Thursday, November 24th.  Our office, however, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, as it is on all other major holidays.  In-person payments or questions will not be possible on the 24th.  Our website, though, is always available for credit card or electronic check payments, frequently asked questions (F.A.Q's), and other basic information.
  • Many of our customers rely on wood stoves, pellet stoves or fireplaces as a source of heat.  Please remember to never dispose of hot ashes in your trash container, as they present a fire hazard, especially if they come in contact with combustible materials in either your container or the collection truck.  Ashes that have sat even for a few days could still be hot, so please use caution when determining when ashes are ready to be disposed of.
  • Please place your container out for pick up the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your service day.  Since it is often more difficult to bring your container to the road the morning after a storm, you may want to place your container out the evening before.  Since the drivers have tight schedules to keep, they cannot return to pick up your trash if you fail to have it out on time.  Also, if you have your container out by 7 a.m. on your service day and it is not picked up by the usual time, please remember that bad road conditions may delay your pickup by a few hours.
  • Please use good judgment when placing your container out for pickup after snowfall.  Remember to leave it in such a way that our collection trucks will be able to reach it, but out of the way of the plow trucks.

We appreciate your patronage and hope you have a safe and enjoyable winter!!

SUMMER - It's HERE!!

SUMMER - It's HERE!!!

Checking in again.  It's Summer, shocking I know.  Winter was long and now we are happily emerging into summer.  We wanted to address a few things; some good reminders mostly.

First, Summer, as brief as it will be, brings the task of yard work!!  Grass clippings being a major part of that.  Please bag your grass clippings.  If put into your container not bagged, grass can create a very stinky and sticky problem.  Your container will get hot in the sun and those grass clippings will condense and tend to stick inside even when the driver dumps it.  Bagging grass clippings is the surest way to avoid stuck trash in your container.  Also, if you have black trash bags full of grass clippings to the side of your container, these will get hot in the sun and lose integrity and often break when the driver lifts them, so please don't over fill these bags to avoid the bag tearing and creating a mess.

Next, any other yard waste should be cut down into managable pieces and fit inside your container.  We still do accept your occasional extra trash at no extra cost to you, but please limit these amounts so your driver is able to lift the extra and fit it into his truck.  He will leave anything he cannot lift or the mechanical arm on the truck cannot lift.  If he does leave somthing else behind and you are unsure why, please feel free to give the office a call during business hours.

Last, but not least, Grampa's Trash Service is proud to help our local hometown customers and we take pride in building our business on honesty and integrity!!  We hope you have come to appreciate the GREAT service we provide along with the extra perks now and then.  Too, please take advantage of paying your bill online. We provide you the ability to have your payment made on an automatic schedule; on any schedule you prefer, monthly, quarterly, etc.  At Grampa's Trash we have tried to make paying your bill quick and easy with no extra or hidden costs!

Have a GREAT summer!!

Surviving Winter

Grampa's Trash
Feb 25, 2011 09:50 AM

Welcome Almost Spring!!

Checking in with all our Great Customers!  Winter has seemed long this year, but I think it does every year, we just forget.  We are happy to report very few "truck getting stuck" instances this winter!!  Which means that our drivers were very careful and that our customers with long driveways were very understanding if they didn't have their trash removed a week here or there due to large amounts of accumulated snow.  If you are one of those customers, we appreciate your understanding.  We always try to get the trash the following week, including all the extra trash that piled up!!

We are greatly looking forward to srping, alothough it does bring soft, wet, muddy ground.  So please be aware of where you place your container.  Our drivers are cautious yet courteous, so if there is a week that your driver can't quite reach your container where you set it out, he will dump your container and then he will most likely move your container to a spot where he can better access it.  Please continue placing your cart in that spot to ensure getting your trash removed efficiently.  Again, watch for obstructions to your container: mail boxes, cars, snow banks, other containers, etc., and place your container at least 6 feet away from these obstructions.

At Grampa's Trash Service, we enjoy providing a quality trash service backed up by great customer service from our drivers and office staff.  We have worked very hard to provide this website to our customers, giving you the ability to pay your bill online, or have answers provided to questions you may have.  Please take a look around our website, you will be surprised at all the information we have offered here.

Thanks again for being our loyal customer!!

Missed Trash Tues. Nov. 23, 2010

Grampa's Trash
Nov 24, 2010 01:23 PM

Dear Missed Customers:

We sincerely apologize for missing you Tuesday November 23rd.  We did attempt to haul trash, however due to severe road conditions and road closures we were not able to haul much of our Tuesday routes.  Unfortunately we were unable to come back the next day to haul your trash.  We have other routes we could not bump and we were only able to haul your trash the following week on Tuesday Nov. 30th.  We did take your extra trash that following week, understanding that you had more than the normal amount of trash because of being missed, and also because of the holiday weekend.  We please request that you bag all of your extra trash making it easier on the drivers and to avoid loose blowing trash.

Also during this winter season, please make EXTRA SURE to have your trash out by 7:00 a.m. so the drivers can collect your trash as they will be starting as early as they can to haul trash on bad roads.

Thank you for your understanding and patience ~ we hope to safely haul trash this winter season!

Hello Customers and grampastrash.com Users:

Writing to elaborate on the upcoming Holiday Season trash hauling schedule and also to give a little help to those of you who are signing up as online grampastrash.com users.

First: Holiday Season

Please click on our "We Pick up on All Holidays" link on the menu bar for a more detailed description.

But just as a friendly reminder; Grampas Trash Service does not adjust our routes for the Holiday's. Your route day WILL NOT CHANGE, even if your trash day lands on a major holiday.  We will pick up your trash on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years.  This also means that we do not adjust the routes during the week of a major holiday; again, your trash day remains the same as any normal week.

Second: New Online grampastrash.com Users:

Thank you, first of all, for utilizing our website to pay your bill online!  However, since the website is still new, we have a few bugs to work out of the system.  We appreciate your feedback or questions that you have regarding setting up a user account, signing into the website, or paying your bill online, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: When you are first setting up a user account, we internally have to verify and approve your submission; and after this takes place, you will automatically get an email saying that you are now an approved online user at grampastrash.com.  This approval process takes place during normal business hours (Mon-Fri 8 - 5). Once you receive the email of approval, you will then be able to go to grampastrash.com and sign into your account using your user name and password that you have already chosen.  We will not call you to let you know you are an approved user; again, you will be getting an email verification, so please check your email, including your junk/spam folder.

Hope this helps out some,

Thanks again for visiting our website and being our customer,

Grampa's Trash
Sep 21, 2010 10:30 AM

Good-day to our Grampa's Trash Customer's!

Posting to let you know that due to price increases in the trash industry; for instance, the rising costs of fuel, oil, and plastic (for our containers); our prices are reflecting those increases.   Our prices have gone up, $1.00/month, the last rate increase was over 2 years ago.

We appreciate that our customers want a great service for a great price.  We still stand behind our "Old Fashioned Friendly Service" motto and provide to our customers the best possible service we can; which includes servicing you on all the holidays so your route day always remains the same, no confusing bumping of trash days, and also our drivers get your extra trash now and then without extra cost or hassle, and last but not least our GREAT customer service which sets us apart from other companies!!  Thank you for being loyal customers and visiting our NEW & BEAUTIFUL website!!
