Now that our unusually warm and mild fall has passed, winter weather is finally creeping in. As much as we love our seasons here in southeastern Idaho, winter certainly does present its challenges! Sometimes things beyond our control, such as road closures due to extremely high winds and snow drifts, can occasionally affect your regular trash pickup. We at Grampa's Trash will do our very best to safely haul your trash and keep your pickup service consistent and worry-free throughout the winter months.
Here are a few reminders that will help us keep up our end of the bargain:
- As always, trash pickup will continue, without interruption, throughout ALL the holidays. Your trash day will remain the same throughout the Holiday Season! This includes Thanksgiving Day, which this year falls on Thursday, November 24th. Our office, however, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, as it is on all other major holidays. In-person payments or questions will not be possible on the 24th. Our website, though, is always available for credit card or electronic check payments, frequently asked questions (F.A.Q's), and other basic information.
- Many of our customers rely on wood stoves, pellet stoves or fireplaces as a source of heat. Please remember to never dispose of hot ashes in your trash container, as they present a fire hazard, especially if they come in contact with combustible materials in either your container or the collection truck. Ashes that have sat even for a few days could still be hot, so please use caution when determining when ashes are ready to be disposed of.
- Please place your container out for pick up the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your service day. Since it is often more difficult to bring your container to the road the morning after a storm, you may want to place your container out the evening before. Since the drivers have tight schedules to keep, they cannot return to pick up your trash if you fail to have it out on time. Also, if you have your container out by 7 a.m. on your service day and it is not picked up by the usual time, please remember that bad road conditions may delay your pickup by a few hours.
- Please use good judgment when placing your container out for pickup after snowfall. Remember to leave it in such a way that our collection trucks will be able to reach it, but out of the way of the plow trucks.
We appreciate your patronage and hope you have a safe and enjoyable winter!!
